Boring is a high-precision machining process that allows for smooth internal surfaces and perfectly calibrated dimensions. It is the step that defines the exactness of a mechanical coupling, ensuring smoothness, seal, and durability over time.
At Baggi Die Casting, boring is performed with CNC machines and dedicated tools, capable of reaching micrometric tolerances and controlled roughness even on complex geometries.

CNC Technology and Constant Control

The process is entrusted to high-rigidity and stability work centers, which allow for maintaining perfect coaxiality and concentricity.
The cutting and feed parameters are managed digitally, based on the material and the bore diameter, to achieve a homogeneous finish and excellent dimensional precision.

The use of hard metal or CBN (cubic boron nitride) tools allows the surface quality to be maintained even after prolonged cycles, ensuring repeatability and process stability.

Tools and Machining Conditions

Every boring operation requires a precise balance between tool, speed, and feed.
The tools used are selected based on the depth and diameter to be machined, with systematic checks on wear and cutting edge quality.
Constant and directional lubrication prevents overheating and micro-deformations, keeping dimensional tolerances within extremely tight limits.

This approach allows for perfectly cylindrical surfaces, with roughness values consistent with project specifications and ready for any mechanical or hydraulic couplings.

Metrological Verification and Certified Quality

The precision of the boring is verified with three-dimensional measuring instruments (CMM) and high-resolution internal control devices.
The measurements concern diameter, roundness, coaxiality, and surface finish, performed according to the procedures provided by our UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 certified quality system.

Every piece of data is recorded to ensure complete traceability and dimensional conformity, assuring the customer a controlled and documented result.

Finishing and Aesthetic Control

At the end of the process, the components are cleaned and deburred with precision, eliminating any material residue. The result is a perfectly finished internal bore, ready to accommodate joining elements, shafts, or moving components.
