Milling

Milling

Definition, shape, and millimetric control

Milling is one of the most versatile and decisive processes in precision mechanics.
It is the process that shapes the component, defining its geometries, profiles, and surfaces with constant accuracy and certified repeatability.
At Baggi Die Casting, milling is managed with high-rigidity CNC machining centers, programmed to guarantee dimensional stability and high surface quality on every part.

Every operation is the result of planning, control, and technology: three elements that together transform precision into a measurable value.

CNC Machines and Process Management

Our computer numerical control machines allow us to perform plain, contoured, profile, or pocket milling, ensuring perfect profile repeatability and adherence to design tolerances.
The automated management of cutting parameters allows the process to be adapted to the part's geometry, material, and tool type, optimizing speed, feed rate, and depth of cut.

Continuous monitoring of working conditions reduces vibrations, guaranteeing uniform surfaces, sharp edges, and geometrically coherent profiles.

Tools and Cutting Strategies

Every milling operation is studied in detail. We use solid carbide, HSS, or PVD coated cutters, with specific geometries for light materials like aluminum and zamak.
The cutting strategies—trochoidal, spiral, high-speed—are selected based on the desired result and the complexity of the part.

The application of controlled lubrication and cooling maintains optimal temperatures and extends tool life, ensuring precision and continuity over time.

Controlled and Verified Precision

Every milled component undergoes dimensional checks using digital calipers and specific control instruments.
Measurements cover flatness, parallelism, perpendicularity, and surface roughness, according to specifications defined with the client.

All checks are carried out in compliance with the UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 quality system, guaranteeing traceability, conformity, and repeatability of the results.

Finishing and Part Cleaning

After milling, every component is cleaned and deburred to eliminate chip residue and achieve a regular and uniform surface.

The result is a part defined in the smallest details, with precise edges, smooth surfaces, and dimensions perfectly aligned with client specifications.

Milling as a Synthesis of Control and Expertise

Milling represents the meeting point between technology and technical skill: a process where every step impacts the overall quality of the product.

With latest-generation CNC machinery, dedicated tools, and accurate checks, Baggi Die Casting guarantees precision, consistency, and dimensional reliability in every process.
